Marine Composites Technician (Fiberglass & Gelcoat)
Full-Time | $26–$34 per hour + Benefits | Delta, BC
West Bay Shipyards is expanding our composites team. With ongoing yacht refit, restoration, and new build projects, we’re seeking an experienced Marine Composites Technician who takes pride in producing clean, high-end finishes.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in fiberglass, gelcoat, or composite repair – whether your experience comes from marine, automotive, aerospace, or another precision-driven industry.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs on hulls, decks, and superstructures
- Lamination and reinforcement of composite components
- Gelcoat application, blending, spraying, and finishing
- Surface preparation including grinding, fairing, and final finish work
- Fabrication of custom fiberglass parts and panels
- Completing work based on drawings, work scopes, and production schedules
- Maintaining safe work practices and organized job sites
- Coordinating with painters, shipwrights, and other trades to meet project deadlines
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in fiberglass, composites, or gelcoat repair
- Working knowledge of resin systems, lamination techniques, and finishing standards
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver yacht-quality results
- Comfortable working on high-value vessels and detailed projects
- Reliable, team-oriented, and motivated
Marine industry experience is preferred, but candidates from other composite-based industries are encouraged to apply.

Work Setting

Sales & Service Manager - Marine Refit & Repair
Full-Time | $85,000 + Performance Incentives | Delta, BC
West Bay Shipyards is hiring a technically capable Sales & Service Manager to lead yacht refit and repair projects from estimate through to completion. This role combines estimating, customer service, and project coordination in a fast-paced marine environment.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Meet with clients to review project scope
- Prepare ballpark budgets to qualify and detailed estimates if qualified
- Maintain CRM pipeline and follow up on quotes out for approval
- Coordinate project scope with production and department managers
- Manage change orders and scope revisions
- Provide client updates and maintain expectations
- Conduct project walk-throughs and final quality checks
- Ensure accurate billing and project closeout
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years in marine, construction, or technical project environments
- Estimating experience
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Organized and detail oriented
- Strong communication skills
